Elm Sun Build New Spray Booth Extention and Re-work Yard

Elm Sun completed the full build extension and fitout of a spray booth and plant room in Skelmersdale, Lancashire at the new Powerlift HQ. The client aquired a new building and wanted a designated specialist space to be able to incorporate Powerlift’s existing spray paint exquipment into a new sleak, modern and low maintance area. They also needed the drainage and yard spaces re-worked and improved across the site.

Structural engineers designs for a 250mm thick slab .

An extension of the original building was planned with full planning permission in place with link access to the main building via an existing roller shutter door that was to be kept in place. Breaking out the existing yard space, avoiding a number of underground services was the start point with structural engineers designs for a 250mm thick slab with high reinforcement to take the weight of the heaviest machinery. Foundations and blockwork were set and the ground prepared inside the new building for the “super slab”.

Main focuses of the build were durability, functionality and longevity.

The new high loading slab was power floated into the night so ensure a smooth finish. Being in a high wind area and its position off the existing building, steel wind posts were then installed and blockwork cavity walls erected. The big main focuses of the build were durability, functionality and longevity.

Once brickwork was up to height, the next step was fixing the roof timbers complete with openings in the joists to be utilised for ventilation from the previous system to be brought across. Asthetic cladding coverings to the external blockwork were installed and the roof with a new 6m wide roller shutter for external access.

Specialist handling equipment was going to be sprayed and worked on in the shop so extra strength slab and large access door was essential to allow Power Lift to continue being at the top of their industry. Once the extarction was in place the workshop could be split as spray booth and plant room with steel fire doors giving personel access to both.

Not only built the spray booth but also altered the yard space and drainage across the entire site .

The key to a good spray booth is smooth wipe-clean walls, good extraction and strong lighting. All of which Elm Sun delivered on. The final product is a practical space for the users to complete their works to the highest standard.

Elm Sun not only built the spray booth but also altered the yard space and drainage across the entire site. New concrete yards and ramps constructed with alterations to existing yards falls and strengths giving better access and drainage to aid in smoother operations. Elm Sun also redirected drainage runs, installed a new heavy duty silt trap for a wash down area and fitted a new seperator tank within the sites underground drainage.

Elm Sun were the principle contractor on this project and worked closely with the client in organising works around their live workshop and aided in the design process to get the best final product for our client.
